Workshop Overview

Motivational interviewing is a collaborative style of communication designed to strengthen a person’s motivation to work towards a specific goal. The presenter will discuss:

  • the four processes involved in MI: engaging, focusing, evoking, and planning, and
  • the five key MI communication skills: asking open questions, affirming, reflecting, summarizing, and providing information and advice with permission.

Each of these processes and skills builds on a fundamental spirit of approaching each interaction with an attitude of partnership, acceptance, compassion, and attempts to evoke the youth’s own motivations for change.

You can sign up now through our webstore (simply click on the image of David Prescott), or sign up over the phone by calling our office at 802-247-3132.
