The identity of this mentor, who we call Jane, has been kept confidential out of respect for the privacy of her mentee and her mentee’s family. Jane has been mentoring the same mentee in the New Circle Mentoring Program for over a year. As she explains, the experience has been both challenging and rewarding.
In this episode, Mary Falcon, Safer Society Foundation Executive Director, and mentor Jane discuss:
- What it is like to mentor a young child with difficult life circumstances.
- How helpful it is to have a clinical supervisor to talk to when a mentee’s behavior is challenging.
- Why the rewards of mentoring keep this mentor “in it for the long haul.”
